Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies involved in shooting


Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person at 17829 North County Road 225. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies made contact with a 43 year old Robert McBride of Keystone Heights. The release says deputies confronted McBride and shortly hereafter deputies fired shots. Deputies then administered first aid on the scene but McBride succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are currently investigating the details that led to the shooting. A parallel internal investigation is also underway as a matter of policy. Both deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
