Marion County hires fewer new teachers for fall

As students prepare to head back to school, a number of teachers in Marion County are not, at least not as many new teachers as four years ago. Only 90 newly-hired teachers started their Marion County teaching careers with orientation yesterday.  Just four years ago, that number topped 400. Florida’s 89.1, WUFT-FM’s Steven Gallo spoke with Marion County Public Schools spokesman Kevin Christian about the drop in numbers as well as what parents and students can do to best prepare for the upcoming school year.
