Shooter in Mill Run Apartment case claims self-defense

A Santa Fe College student is claiming self defense after killing his roommate last night. Investigators are still working on the case, and charges have yet to be filed.  Gainesville Police Department Spokeswoman Angelina Valuri says Jude Rizzo told authorities he shot his roommate Micheal Crace at Mill Run apartment complex in self-defense.

Valuri adds Rizzo said him and Crace had been arguing all day and felt threatened after his roommate pulled out a gun.

Rizzo's brother was present during the shooting and confirms his story. Valuri says investigators are looking at all factors to verify Rizzo's claims.

Valuri added Rizzo has not been charged with any crime at this time. She says an autopsy will be conducted in the near future. Valuri says it was concluded that Crace was shot three times in his chest and neck area.
