Downtown Gainesville shooting leads officials to evaluate parking safety

The Gainesville Police Department is looking for a third homicide suspect involved in a downtown parking garage shooting early Sunday morning. Artrel Dubose was taken to Shands at the University of Florida after being shot in the head by a Lake City resident. Dubose was pronounced dead midday Sunday. This is not the first fatal shooting in the city-owned parking garage. Another man was shot and killed in 2007. Gainesville City Commissioner Jeanna Mastrodicasa says downtown Gainesville has seen added security.

Despite the shooting, Mastrodicasa says she doesn't anticipate more surveillance cameras in Gainesville.

Though the city of Gainesville will continue to look into security measures, Mastrodicasa says this weekend's shooting may not have been preventable.

Mastrodicasa says though the shooting occurred in a parking garage, it could have happened anywhere.
