Dixie County files appeal to keep engraved religious monument in courthouse

Dixie County begins its fight to keep a granite monument of the Ten Commandments in front of the county courthouse. The attorney representing Dixie County is appealing a federal court ruling that ordered county officials remove the monument. The Dixie County Commission voted unanimously last week to appeal Judge Maurice Paul’s decision requiring the six-ton monument be removed. The notice of appeal is being filed with the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta today.
