Weekend rain will do little to calm North Central Florida fires

With smoke and flames becoming a large issue in North Central Florida this spring, this weekend’s rain came as a much needed relief. However, Florida Forest Service Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Ludie Bond says the rain was not enough to extinguish area fires.

Bond says the wind is also making it difficult to fight fires and could increase wildfire activity.
