Marion County school board moves forward with tax proposal

The Marion County school board will ask area residents to up the millage rate to pay for school related costs. Board member Ron Crawford says a one mill increase would make up a significant portion of the budget problems the district faces now.

The board decided last night to move forward with the proposal and is now working to finalize the language.  Crawford says members are being very clear about what can and cannot be funded through this mill.

Once the language is finalized, the proposal will go before the county commission to decide if it will go on the 2012 General Election ballot.
