The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office has found the owner of a 600-pound hog that was on the loose.
Deputies had been looking for the owner since finding the hog on Sunday, and the sheriff’s office announced about 2:30 p.m. today that the owner has been located.
The owner's name wasn’t released.
On Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a hog running at large in the 12000 block of Southwest 274th Street, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Facebook page. The hog appeared to be domesticated, the page said.
Deputies captured the hog with rope and took it to the sheriff’s office’s livestock impound. The owner will be required to pay fees because of the impound.
Although the hog was very hot after being captured, the sheriff’s office said it appeared to be in good health otherwise.
