Triple-A is putting laws to ban texting while driving, and teen driver safety as top priorities for its 2011 legislative agenda. Triple-A Spokeswoman Karen Morgan says Triple-A Auto Club South conducted a public affairs survey to Floridians to help pinpoint key traffic safety issues, one of which is texting and driving.
“A majority of teens admit to using their cellphones and driving, whether it’s texting or talking on the phone and they don’t realize the increased risk they’re putting themselves in by not paying attention to what’s going on around them so we’d like to see that addressed.”
Triple-A’s traffic safety priorities in Florida also include favoring a law requiring booster seats for children ages four to seven, and improving the graduated licensing program for teen drivers.
