Marion County school board talks transportation

As the state and other governmental agencies deal with tight budgets, the public might be noticing the use of a the term, privatization , as a means of saving money by turning over certain functions to private companies. And so, Marion County’s school board is hearing from private firms, who say they could provide school bus transportation to the district, at a cheaper cost than what the school district pays now. No decision has been made, but board members talked about the idea earlier today. Vice chair Ron Crawford told WUFT-FM’s Olivia Link about the pros and cons of changing the Marion county school district’s transporation system.
