Texting ban facing a dead end

Although the Florida Senate's version of a texting while driving ban is continuing to move through committee, the House draft is making little progress. Sarasota-area Representative Ray Pilon says it may mean the end for this action.

He says some lawmakers fear this action would infringe on personal freedom, but Pilon says that personal level is what motivated his participation in this bill.

The House version makes texting a secondary offense while driving, punishable by a fine.
