UPD continues to look for man sighted with gun at Shands Wednesday morning

University of Florida police are still searching for a man who was seen with a gun walking in to the Shands Atrium from the West Entrance of the Dental Building this morning. He is a 5’8’’ black male wearing an orange shirt with white short sleeves and blue jeans. There was no indication he intended to harm anyone, but UPD says anyone with information should call police at 392-1111. An advisory has been sent to University of Florida students through an emergency notification email.

Visitors and patients are safe and the area is still open to the public.  Knowles says they do not believe the suspect intended to cause harm and no lockdowns of the hospital are expected.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5 feet 8 inches tall and wearing an orange shirt with white sleeves and blue jeans.  UPD is urging anyone who sees the suspect to call 911.
