A nationally known activist and academician, speaking in Gainesville today, stopped by the Bo Diddley Plaza to lend support to members of the Occupy movement.  Cornel West, who will speak tonight at University of Florida, offered his support to those downtown.

West and broadcaster Tavis Smiley were in Gainesville on their tour to raise consciousness about poverty. They spoke at the Bob Graham Center at Pugh Hall at the University of Florida at Friday evening.
