UF broke ground Saturday for new Austin Cary Forest Learning Center

Two years ago, the University of Florida School of Forest Resources and Conservation was devastated when a controlled burn destroyed its learning center. Now, the program is working to build again.

About 400 people watched Saturday as ground work began for the new Austin Cary Forest Learning Center.

"It's used for environmental education purposes," said Scott Sager, education coordinator and forester. "For folks from kindergarteners through seniors that sort of want to come out and get an opportunity in a nice facility to learn about forests, learn about natural resources."

WUFT's Brittany Bassler has more about the center, which is expected to be finished by next year.
