EPA to study dust in neighborhood near Cabot-Koppers Superfund Site

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced plans to study household dust in residences near the Cabot-Koppers Superfund Site. Alachua County Environmental Protection Director, Chris Bird says the study was prompted by concerns contamination may be making its way into area houses.

A pool of 400 households have been identified as candidates for the testing, and of those 400, 30 will be tested.

The results of the study will be used to inform the community about the amount of dioxin and related chemicals in house dust in Gainesville.
