Newberry survey isn't playing around with sports and recreation

Newberry officials are looking for feedback on sports and recreation in the city, and they’re bringing the opportunity for comment right to the residents’ doors. City Manager Keith Ashby says the sports surveys have gone out in the mail in order to drive up the response rate.

He says only 2 people had taken the surveys in person at public meetings, and the city wants feedback more representative of the population at large.  University of Florida Tourism and Recreation Professor Shannon Kerwin says the feedback they  have received is mostly people searching for more answers.

Kerwin hopes to have the surveys in within the next few weeks so they can begin interpreting the results to decide what the community needs.
