Two Killed in Plane Crash While Filming Movie

Two people were killed in a single-engine plane crash on Sunday. They were filming a scene for a low-budget zombie movie when the engine stalled and the plane went into a nosedive.

Two people filming an airplane scene for a low-budget zombie movie were killed Sunday night when the single-engine aircraft crashed into a Summerfield backyard.

Witnesses said after the plane took a sharp turn over the film site the engine stalled and went down nose first into the backyard of 1770 SE 140th St, according to a Marion County Sheriff's Office press release.

The passenger was filming the pilot during flight for a scene for the movie. Both died upon impact.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office announced the pilot was Dennis W. Monroe, 65, of 1770 SE 140th St. The passenger was Joseph Lewis Sardinas, 70, of 941 Mendoza Blvd.

The Federal Aviation Administration is still attempting to determine the cause of the crash.
