Traffic Unit Busts Two Men In Marion County For Synthetic Marijuana

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office found 382 grams of synthetic marijuana in a vehicle on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office found two men with 382 grams of synthetic marijuana in their vehicle on Wednesday.

According to a MCSO press release, a traffic unit was conducting a security checkpoint at the Pilot station, 4032 NW Highway 326, when they observed a disturbance in the parking lot.

MCSO spokesman Capt. James Pogue said officers made contact with the two men and smelled marijuana coming from their vehicle. The Sheriff’s K-9 unit arrived on-scene and alerted officers that the vehicle may contain drugs.

A search of the vehicle turned up the synthetic marijuana packaged for distribution: bundles of plastic bags, three scales and a pipe.

William Griffin, 38, of Dunnellon was arrested and taken to Marion County jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities issued to Ryan Young — the other man with Griffin — a Notice to Appear for possession of drug paraphernalia.
