Alachua County sheriff's officials and other law enforcement agencies announced this afternoon the arrest of a man suspected of a 2008 rape, which occured in the Haile Plantation development in southwest Gainesville. 38 year old Andrew Payne junior was arrested in Georgia around ten this morning. Authorities credited a new DNA database with helping them make the arrest. Alachua County sheriff Sadie Darnell said she was pleased that investigators never gave up on the four year old case. Payne was allegedly living about three miles north of Gainesville.
