Atlantis embarks on last shuttle mission

Shortly before noon, Space Shuttle Atlantis launched on its last mission as part of NASA’s shuttle program. The end of the shuttle program will leave as many as 9,000 workers at Kennedy Space Center without jobs. Many of them have worked together for decades.Last month, about three dozen shuttle veterans met at Fishlips Waterfront Bar and Grill in Cape Canaveral to celebrate their time with the space program and Florida Public Radio’s, Nicole Creston tagged along and sent this audio postcard.
