Remembering folklorist, author and civil rights activist Stetson Kennedy

The man who infiltrated and unmasked the Ku Klux Klan passed away over the weekend at the age of 94.  Stetson Kennedy from Jacksonville won numerous awards over his lifetime, not only for his early work as a folklorist and author, but for his human rights activism exposing the people and inner workings of the white supremicist group the KKK.  At the age of 88 Stetson Kennedy was inducted into the Florida Artist Hall of Fame.  WUFT-FM's Cathy DeWitt was there.  From our WUFT-FM archives here's her report from 2005.

In Stetson Kennedy's final wishes he requested a party and not a funeral. A luncheon celebrating his life will be held at Beluthahatchee Park in St. John's County on October 1st.
