Seahorse Key Opened For Visitors Before Nesting Season

A few times a year, Seahorse Key opens its restricted research island up to visitors to explore.

The island, located three miles off of Cedar Key, is accessible only by boat and has been used by the University of Florida for the past 60 years as a marine research facility.

Over 300 visitors were able to experience the island's wildlife and history this past weekend before the area is closed off for bird nesting season starting March 1.
