U.S. Forest Service acquires new fire-fighting equipment

The U.S. Forest Service has awarded contracts to four companies to provide a total of seven next-generation airtankers to fight wildfires. This is an addition to the eight additional aircrafts added to the fleet yesterday. Florida's 89.1 WUFT-FMs Robert Lopez spoke with Jennifer Jones spokeswoman for U.S. Forest Service in Idaho about the improvements.

The additional and updated fire equipment the U.S. Forest Service received will be used nationally for disasters in every state. Florida didn't have as active of a wildfire season this year as it did in past years, but Florida's 89.1, WUFT-FM's Catherine Awasthi reports how state fire officials are thankful for any additional help.
