Hundreds of residents gathered in downtown Gainesville Thursday night to celebrate the reopening of the Bo Diddley Plaza. The free concert was held as a part of frank, a conference focused on communications and social change. The plaza closed last March for renovations. The concert featured spoken word poetry by the Los Angeles-based organization "Get Lit," opening musical performances by the Savants of Soul, Little Jake & The Soul Searchers and a musical collaboration between New York-based artist Ahmen and Gainesville artists Fae Nageon De Lestang and Aaron Colverson. The headlining act was Charles Bradley. The evening also included art by 352Creates and a variety of local food trucks and microbrews.
