Small sinkhole prompts emergency road closure of section of Southwest 24th Avenue

The Alachua County Public Works Department closed a section of Southwest 24th Avenue to through traffic on Wednesday after a small sinkhole opened.

Drivers will be detoured around the area using Southwest 91st Street and Southwest 87th Way. The public works department is asking drivers to use caution and follow the designated detour signs.

Drivers should expect delays and plan ahead during the construction.
