On-Air Fundraising and Membership
How do I know which type of membership is right for me?
WUFT offers many different types of membership so that we can meet the needs of our diverse audience. For more information on the different types of membership, please refer to the Support WUFT page or call our Member Services line at 352.392.5551. We would be happy to help you select the right membership.
When does my membership begin and end?
Your membership is current for one year after your payment is processed. If your payment is processed mid-month, then your membership will begin on the first day of the following month. For example, if your payment is received in mid-February, then your membership will begin on March 1st and last for one year. You will receive a reminder in the mail before your membership expires.
*Note: Your renewal cycle begins three months prior to your expiration date. Any contribution given before that time is considered an additional gift for the year and does not renew your membership.
Why does Florida’s 5, WUFT-TV and Florida’s 89.1, WUFT-FM have membership drives?
WUFT relies on the support of our members to help accomplish our mission. Our membership drives help build community support by offering diverse programs that allow our viewing audience to participate by becoming a member. Membership drives are one of the most effective methods of raising funds by acquiring new members and renewing existing supporters.
I still have several months left on my membership. Why am I receiving renewal notices?
Because it is so important for us to keep you as a member of the WUFT family, we start sending out reminders before your membership expires.
The programming schedule has changed due to a membership drive. When will my program be back on at its regular time?
Please refer to your program guide or consult the television and radio listings on our website to see when your program will air again.
Payments
I have never used my credit card on the Internet before. How does it work? Is it safe?
WUFT uses the best security and encryption technology available for your protection. The personal and financial information that your computer sends us, and the information that we send back to your computer, is encrypted while in transit. Encrypted files are scrambled and can only be reassembled and used by the sender and the recipient. This means that when you send your personal and financial information to WUFT, it is encrypted so that no one but us can decipher it. Your credit card number is never stored unencrypted on our server, and it is only decrypted at the time of its use.
I just sent my renewal check. Why did I receive a renewal notice?
In order to limit expenses, we print and send out renewal notices in bulk. This means that it takes several weeks for a renewal letter to get to you. As a result, your renewal gift and our letter may have crossed in the mail. We will send an acknowledgment letter to let you know when your check has been processed, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Member Services at 352.392.5551
Membership ‘Thank You’ Gifts
How long does it take to receive my membership ‘thank you’ gift?
On average you will receive you gift two to three weeks after your pledge has been paid in full.
An on-air fundraising drive just ended, but I was not able to contribute at that time. Am I still able to choose a ‘thank you’ gift that was offered during that time?
Yes, you can donate on-line – Just click our Donation page.
I bought a CD/DVD from you during a membership drive. Why are you referring to my purchase as a donation?
If you called during a television or radio on-air membership drive and made a ‘pledge’ of support in order to receive a ‘thank you’ gift, you have made a charitable contribution to WUFT and are therefore a member. The item(s) you receive are our way of saying ‘thank you’ for your generous support.
Radio Drive Partner:
Become a WUFT Radio Drive Partner
WHAT: Monetary donation that WUFT may use as an incentive during Radio Fundraising Drives. (Goods and/or services at the same minimum value may be used in place of a monetary donation, only where applicable).
WHEN: WUFT’s Radio Fundraising Drives take place twice throughout the year. Each drive lasts an average of seven to 14 days. We fundraise weekdays between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and on weekends 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Our drives are currently scheduled during the months of April and October.
WHY: WUFT will mention your company’s/organization’s name on air throughout one (1) day or day period. (See the chart below for number of mentions per day period). Your company or organization will receive extensive promotion to an accumulation of more than 169,000 WUFT listeners depending on the part of day you choose to support. You’ll also be supporting WUFT in a very significant way: donating funds that WUFT will use to purchase items that will inspire a large number of listeners to contribute, thus raising substantial funds for WUFT (at a minimal cost to the station itself).
