The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Office has completed the process of transferring all voters to their new precincts and districts. These changes were required after the State completed drawing the new lines for house, senate, and congressional Districts. Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter says information from the recent consensus causes redistricting and voter changes to occur.
However, Carpenter adds redistricting doesn't affect all areas of the state the same way.
Voters will be receiving new voter cards in the mail with their updated information this week. Carpenter says it's very important for voters to read their new voter cards as they may contain new information.
Carpenter stresses the importance of voters checking whether or not their precinct has changed and also says the voter cards contain other useful items.
Carpenter adds there are other ways in which voters can find their new voting information.
Carpenter also says the deadline to register to vote or make a party change before the August 14th Primary elections is July 16th.
