Iris Delgado, UF CJC Class of 2011

Iris Delgado earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. She majored in Telecommunications and minored in Latin American Politics.

Today she is an Emmy Award-winning reporter and news anchor. Delgado covers news for the Spanish-speaking community of  Noticiero Telemundo 62 in Philadelphia. The station also reaches viewers in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania and parts of South Jersey and Delaware.

Delgado moved to the United States from Puerto Rico when she was 15. She has competed in and won such contests as Miss Hispana Internacional.

She spends her free time serving the community, for example, she advocates for “Operation Giveback,” a nonprofit organization that supports wounded soldiers. She also participates in community events with associations such as the American Heart Association and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Philadelphia.
