Betty Cortina Weiss, UF CJC Class of 1992

Since earning her Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, Betty Cortina Weiss has worked for many of the country’s top magazines.

Cortina Weiss was a correspondent for People; an associate editor for People en Español; a senior writer for Entertainment Weekly; a news editor for O, The Oprah Magazine; an editorial director for Latina; and editor of the Miami Herald’s Indulge. She also ventured into digital publishing as a consulting senior producer for NBCLatino.com, among other media ventures.

And she is also into cuisine. Cortina Weiss graduated summa cum laude with an associate’s in culinary science from Johnson & Wales.

Today she is an entrepreneur based in both South Florida and New York City as a media specialist, content director and writer/producer specializing in culinary, sustainability and lifestyle storytelling, according to her LinkedIn profile, where she states:

“I am fully bilingual and believe salsa—the kind eaten and the kind danced to—makes the world a more delicious place.”
