Ken Molestina, UF CJC Class of 2006

When Ken Molestina was earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, he and fellow alumnus Christian De La Rosa started up a forerunner of Noticias online on WRUF’s website when WRUF was mostly broadcasting news and sports.

Since graduating in 2006, Molestina career has been thriving. His awards include an Emmy for reporting on undocumented immigrants and human smugglers while working as an anchor and reporter at KVIA-TV in El Paso, Texas.

His career began as an intern for WFOR-TV in Miami. He has also worked as a reporter for WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., where some of his works included getting the public’s reaction to Osama Bin Laden’s death in 2011; covering President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election and inaugural; and reporting from Capitol Hill after the fall 2013 federal government shutdown.

In January 2014, Molestina moved back to Texas to work for CBS11 News in Dallas/Fort Worth, where he is an anchor and reporter.

Molestina was born in New York, raised in Miami and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and has served on its national board of directors.
