Gun safety experts in Gainesville and neighboring communities say they have noticed an increase in the last four months in the number of women applying for a concealed weapons license. As of the end of February, one-third of the state's 2.5 million concealed weapons license holders are women, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
