University of Florida Joins Colleges Banning Hoverboards

After a series of incidents in which hoverboards - electronic skateboards - burst into flames, the University of Florida today joined more than 30 other colleges and universities around the nation in issuing a ban on them in resident halls. A university official said the ban will be in place until the hoverboards can meet fire safety standards.

UF Student Wins International Essay Contest About Peace

University of Florida student, Narayan Kulkarni, recently won Gio Peace's International Essay Contest. His essay, which shares his story on the treatment he received from peers after 9/11 due to his ethnicity, was chosen out of 8,943 essays from 148 countries. Kulkarni will receive his award in Japan this week.

UF finance senior Vivek Kumar has created a program to deliver quality organic fruits and vegetables the Union Street Farmers Market to local residents every Wednesday. The program is an alternative to traditional farmers' markets and encourages residents to eat local and organic.
