President Barack Obama advocated the LGBT community at his inauguration speech Monday. This was the first time a president has mentioned gay rights in an inaugural address.

October is LGBT History Month, and as the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community takes a look back at the significant moments that have shaped its culture, members of the community also look to the future as society continues to make significant strides toward equality.
