Florida to Ban Dumping Blood Off Beaches to Lure Sharks

Florida is preparing a new statewide ban on the practice by fishermen along the state’s iconic beaches of dumping bloody fish guts into the ocean to lure sharks closer to shore – and possibly closer to swimmers and waders. Land-based anglers say the ban threatens long traditions of shark fishing and penalizes fishermen who can’t afford their own boats or expensive charters.

Juvenile Offenders Get Chance In The Spotlight With Guidance From Hippodrome, River Phoenix Center

Raiford is Union Juvenile Residential Facility currently holding 24 young men from ages 13 to 18. For the next few months a team of theater and education workers from Gainesville will make weekly visits to the detention center to help rehabilitate these young men.
