The City of Gainesville will take its first step toward more affordable and accessible internet coverage.

A group of residential and business property owners are objecting to Collier Companies’ proposal for a license agreement giving them exclusive use of city parking lot #2. The owners, situated in the Pleasant Street Historic District, cite issues with parking, lack of fair policy and transparency, and putting private gain above public benefit as reasons to object to the city of Gainesville leasing lot #2 to Collier Companies.

Daniel E. Becker was sworn in as Gainesville’s newest postmaster on Thursday morning in front of the city’s general mail facility. Becker has more than 23 years of experience working for the United States Postal Service.

Alachua County commissioners and the City of Gainesville commissioners unanimously agreed to swap the old RTS facility with 200 acres southwest of Wacahoota Road.

The City of Gainesville is prepared to work with a UF student organization to paint crosswalk art for beauty and public safety.

City commissioners voted to support the mayor in signing an agreement between the City of Gainesville and UF. The agreement would create a formal relationship between the two to work together on development projects of mutual interest.
