Evinston hosts the Evinston Plein Air Paintout each year to raise money and awareness for the town's beloved Wood and Swink Old Store and Post Office. The store, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, has faced challenges in the past to remain open.

Bill Nelson, a senator from Florida, visited the J. Reitz Union at the University of Florida Wednesday. He spoke on nonpartisan government, early voting and education concerns and was surrounding by many students and political leaders in Gainesville.
