The Alachua County Sheriff's Office will hold an auction on Saturday to find homes for two healthy horses that have overcome severe malnutrition. ACSO has spent more than $1,400 over the last six months rehabilitating them.

A $2 million project to help restore water levels in Mallory Swamp began Wednesday. Geologists constructed wells to control the water levels in the swamp and aquifer. The second part of the project will close ditches that cause water to flow outside the swamp's perimeter.

Gainesville Police Department installed a speeding radar last week in hopes of keeping residents and drivers safer. The radar was placed along Northwest 31st Drive after many residents voiced their concerns.
