The University of Florida and Florida State University police departments are working with the Boynton Beach Police Department to investigate a series of disturbing YouTube videos posted by Thomas Carney III of Boynton Beach. Carney may also be connected to a Facebook profile impersonating FSU student Kyle Leonard.

National Report, a satirical news website, drew attention to the Williston Police Department after publishing an article about a deal made with Walmart to supply the town with a new, privatized police force. Williston PD pointed out the satirical nature of the story on Facebook.

Mary Alexander was arrested in June for charges of operating an unlicensed assisted living facility and neglecting a disabled or elderly adult. Though officials are still trying to shut her and other unlicensed ALFs down, Alexander believes she's facing racial discrimination and said she will continue to operate her facilities.

Heritage Senior Living of Ocala was identified as an unlicensed assisted living facility by the Agency for Health Care Administration on June 5, one of seven such citations in North Central Florida in 2013. There have been more statewide, spurring a call for legislative review in 2014.
