The dilemma of missing traffic signs

Gainesville has a traffic sign problem. It’s not that citizens are all disobeying the signs, it’s that people are stealing them. According to Gainesville Police Department spokeswoman Tscharna Senn, more than four dozen traffic signs have been taken this past year… some more than once in the same location. Remembering man’s first lunar step

Today marks the 42nd anniversary of mankind’s first step on the moon. It also marks the upcoming end to America’s manned space program. The Space Shuttle Atlantis crew will land on Thursday, finishing the last of the space missions. WUFT- FM reporters Dina Lewis and Kareem Sandy talked with Gainesville residents who recall where they were when they received the news about the first man landing on the moon.

Parking fees may change in downtown Gainesville

Gainesville residents could soon see changes in parking fees for downtown. The proposal has been approved by the City Commission’s Recreation, Cultural Affairs and Public Works Committee. The 100 free spots may soon be replaced with parking meters. If given the final okay from the City Commission, the price would change from 25 cents an hour to 50 cents an hour for all parking lots and from 50 cents an hour to $1 an hour on the street. Gainesville native Corey Sawyer is very upset about the proposed changes because it will keep him from frequenting downtown.
