New Group Home To Cater To Those With Rare Overeating Disorder

The Century Oak Group Home at The Arc of Alachua County — slated for opening between August and October of 2016 at 1811 NW 9th St. in Gainesville - will provide specialized care for six people with Prader-Willi Syndrome, or PWS. PWS is a genetic disorder that occurs in one of 15,000 to 25,000 births, and those who have it never feel satiated and eat uncontrollably. While The Arc has provided care for people with PWS since 1989, the new group home will offer more specific, hands-on care for clients.
