Sen. Ben Sasse visits UF campus, protests ensue

By and

Senator Ben Sasse visited campus Monday. The sole finalist for the UF presidency made his case to Gators in several panels inside Emerson Hall as student protestors gathered outside.

Some are reluctant to let him into the swamp; others are ready to embrace him. Of the very few willing to comment, however, hardly any of them had anything nice to say.

Even some people with the same political affiliation as the Senator said they were unsure about having someone with a political background preside over their education. One conservative student said freedom of speech is important in the world of academia.

It is unclear if the negative reaction will cause the university to change course.
