GPD reminds motorists about Florida law on excessive stereo noise

By

The Gainesville Police Department recently informed drivers about the enactment of a Florida Law which prohibits loud sound-making devices from vehicles.

This law prohibits anyone in a motor vehicle near a church, school, or hospital from amplifying noise deemed plainly audible from 25 feet or more.

Graham Glover, GPD public information officer,  said the department’s goal is to educate the public on the law.

Glover believes motorists will obey the law once the community is educated and understands the repercussions.

Offenders will be issued a traffic citation.
