Gainesville Police Investigates Break Involving Attempted Sexual Battery

The Gainesville Police Department is looking for a man who broke into an apartment and attacked a woman. The woman is alright and she was able to escape once she started to fight back.

The incident happened June 6 at night in Kensington South apartments on 20th avenue.

Police were told that a man forced his way into the victim's apartment after knocking on other doors in the area prior to the attack.

"I'm so proud of this victim. She was able to fight back bravely in a situation that she found herself in. Not only was she able to fight back, but she was able to fight back in such a way that caused her attacker to flee the area," said GPD spokesman Ben Tobias.
