An Ocala man has been charged in Wednesday’s early-morning shooting death in Silver Springs Shores.

Kasaan Patterson, 19, faces one count of murder in the death of his girlfriend’s cousin, Jeffery Aaron, according to a news release from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

A witness told police that Patterson got into a fight with 26-year-old Aaron early Wednesday morning, and a shooting occurred outside of a house on Pine Course Loop in Silver Springs Shores, the release said.

The homeowner drove Aaron to the Ocala Regional Medical Center, but he was later pronounced dead.

Surveillance cameras outside a neighbor’s house recorded the incident, leading police to believe that Patterson was the shooter, the release said.

Patterson remained at the Marion County Jail Thursday on a $100,000 bond.
