A man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting Monday night in Ocala, but before the he died, he ran into a nearby Family Dollar store, where he was aided until police arrived.

From the store, Jordan Davis, 25, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 4 a.m. this morning, said Cynthia Barnes, an Ocala police spokeswoman.

Davis was shot near the 800 block of Northwest 15th Avenue in Ocala by an unknown suspect. He then fled to the Family Dollar, and employees there called the police, Barnes said.

Store employees declined to comment.

Once at the hospital, police were able to link a second victim to the shooting. That victim hasn’t yet been named by police and remained hospitalized as of this afternoon.

Police are asking citizens to submit tips about the shooting.

“At the moment, we are still in the fact-finding phase of the investigation,” Barnes told WUFT News. “We are open and looking for people to assist us, [and] we will, of course, do all we can as far as solving this issue.”
