UPDATE: Ocala Library Goes Off Lockdown After Threat

UPDATE, 3:25 p.m.: Today's threat at the library on Southeast Fort King Street in Ocala was in response to a vehicle in the parking lot occupied by a possibly suicidal person, according to a news release from Ocala police.

After several unsuccessful attempts to contact the occupant, Ocala police's SWAT team approached the vehicle and discovered a man in his mid-30s with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Ocala Fire Rescue.

UPDATE, 3 p.m.: The lockdown at the library complex on Southeast Fort King Street in Ocala is no longer in effect, according to Ocala police.

Ocala police are at the library complex on Southeast Fort King Street in the city in response to what they’re calling “a possible threat.”

“The complex is on lockdown, and [the] threat is isolated to a vehicle in the parking lot,” according to a release today from Ocala police.
