Man Shatters Store Front Glass At Midtown Bar

The store front glass of Fat Daddy's, a local Gainesville bar located in Midtown, was shattered after a patron punched the glass Thursday night, police said.

Jesse L. Roberts caused disturbances inside the bar and was forcefully removed by security during which he hit and threatened several bouncers. After he was removed, bar staff locked the door as he continued to threaten the people inside.

Police say the 23-year-old then damaged the door frame and punched the front door glass, leaving it shattered.

"Our officers are constantly dealing with intoxicated people," Gainesville Police Department spokesman Ben Tobias said, "and it usually doesn't get to this level of violence."

Roberts fled on foot and was caught by police on the University of Florida campus near Fletcher Drive. He was charged with criminal mischief, battery and assault.

Fat Daddy's staff could not be reached for comments.
