Fumigation started Friday at the Gainesville Police Department's administrative building to combat a termite infestation.
The termites were discovered about a month ago by an employee working in the building, located at 721 NW 6th St., according to Gainesville Police Department spokesperson Ben Tobias.
Most employees in the building have Fridays off, but everyone else will be relocated to headquarters for the time being. The fumigation is estimated to cost around $6,300 and is being paid for by a pre-budgeted emergency fund.
The fumigation is expected to be completed by Monday.
