Scott's PAC Rebuts Gainesville Woman's Starbucks Roast

Let's Get To Work, a political action committee affiliated with Gov. Rick Scott, released a response video to Cara Jennings, who confronted Scott at a Gainesville Starbucks on Tuesday.

The original video has over 2 million views on Youtube.

Jennings, a former Lake Worth city commissioner, yelled at Scott over Medicaid cuts and unemployment in the state. Other media organizations fact checked Jennings' claims.

The response video claims Gainesville-area unemployment has been cut in half since Scott became governor.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate in the Gainesville Metropolitan Area was 8.2 in January 2011, when Scott took office. It is 4.0 as of February 2016.

The state unemployment rate in January 2011 was 10.5 and 4.9 in February 2016. The national unemployment rate was 9.1 and 4.9 for the same time period.

While the unemployment rate in the Gainesville Metro Area was cut in half, as the video says, so were the national and state rates.

Editor's note: A previous version of the story incorrectly stated the unemployment rate for Gainesville Metro Area. The previous data was the unemployment numbers.
