School Bus Rolls Over Woman In Gainesville

By

A woman was struck by a school bus Tuesday as she was crossing a crosswalk at the intersection of Northwest 13th Street and Seventh Avenue in Gainesville.

As of about 3 p.m. Tuesday, her injuries were non-life threatening, according to a news release from Gainesville police spokesman Ben Tobias.

The pedestrian was walking on the crosswalk when the bus driver made a left turn onto Northwest 13th Street. The driver didn’t see her and hit her, witnesses told police.

It appeared as if the front wheels of the bus rolled over the pedestrian, who’s in her 20s but wasn’t identified by name by Tobias.

A nurse was nearby and gave immediate help to the woman until emergency responders arrived, Tobias said.

When they did arrive, the woman was awake and alert. Police are trying to determine who had the right of way at the time of the accident.

Tobias said Tuesday he didn’t have further details.
